The Hadith al-Thaqalayn refers to a saying (hadith) about which translates to "the two weighty things." In this hadith Muhammad referred to the Qur'an and ''Ahl al-Bayt'' ('people of the house', Muhammad's family) as the two weighty things. The Hadith is accepted by all Muslims, however, like most other hadith, the scholars have decided on various interpretations. While the Twelver Shias are known for their strong love towards Muhammad's daughter Fatima and her progeny, few of the Sunnis have such a strong devotion towards them. == Interpretation == Both Sunnis and Shi'as believe that Muhammad said the following: While both Sunnis and Shi'as believe in respecting Ahl al-Bayt, the Shi'a believe that the successors of the Prophet were appointed from the Ahl al-Bayt, while Sunnis reject the claim that anyone was appointed as successor. But according to the Muwatta〔()〕 by Malik ibn Anas: 〔()〕 - This Hadith is Daeef due to no chain of references.
